Foz do Iguaçu at a glance
Foz do Iguaçu is the Brazilian city next to the falls. It lies in the border region where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet, on the other side of the river from Puerto Iguazú. Most visitors come for the Brazilian national park, but the city has more to offer than a hotel bed: a bird park, a hydroelectric plant, a lookout over the three borders and a boat safari.
The main sights sit along Avenida das Cataratas, the road that leads from the city to the park entrance. There is no single city ticket. Each sight sells its own entry, so add up the costs before you plan the day. All prices below are the published ones for 2026 and can change.

The main sights in detail
Prices are for 2026. Check the operator's page for the current day before you go.
The Brazilian side of the falls
The standard adult ticket is 134 BRL, made up of 131 BRL admission and a voluntary 3 BRL contribution to the Fundo Iguaçu. Children up to and including 6 enter free with photo ID. Tickets are sold online with a visit date and an entry time. The park is open every day, with entry from 9:00 am on weekdays and from 8:30 am on weekends. The last entry is at 4:00 pm and you can stay until 5:30 pm. In October 2026 the operator reported the river walkway and the lower Naipi lookout as closed because of high water, while the panorama trail stayed open. Never assume a walkway is open for your date.
Brazilian side guide →Parque das Aves
The bird park stands next to the entrance of the national park. A self-guided paved route of about 2,000 m (1.2 mi) leads through six walk-through aviaries. Adults pay 110 BRL, half price is 55 BRL for eligible groups, and children up to 8 enter free when accompanied.
Bird park guide →Itaipú Dam
The Brazilian visitor offer includes a panoramic tour for 63 BRL and a longer Especial tour for 185 BRL that goes inside the plant. The Especial is not open to children under 14 and needs photo ID.
Itaipú guide →Marco das Três Fronteiras
This is the lookout over the confluence and the three-country corner on the Brazilian side. Entry for ages 12 and up is 60 BRL (57 BRL plus the 3 BRL contribution), and reduced entry for children aged 6 to 11 is 31.50 BRL. Children aged 0 to 5 enter free with an adult. The regular opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The operator advises buying online, and the ticket office also sells tickets subject to availability. It is a different place from the monument in Puerto Iguazú, described on our Puerto Iguazú page.
Macuco Safari
The jungle ride plus boat costs 384 BRL, and the jungle part alone costs 192 BRL. The trip takes about 2 hours, with 25 to 30 minutes on the boat. It runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays and from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on weekends. Park entry is booked separately. Our boat tour page compares it with the Argentine option.
Getting around Foz do Iguaçu
The airport (IGU) lies about 13 km (8 mi) from the city center on BR 469. Bus line 120, Parque Nacional, serves the airport terminal edge and runs between the city bus terminal (TTU) and the park. Check the current fare and timetable at the terminal before you go.
Private cars cannot drive into the Brazilian national park. Day visitors park outside and take the internal transport, which is included in the ticket. Parking costs 65 BRL a day, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Parque das Aves charges 60 BRL a day. The park entrance is on BR 469 at km 18, and the bird park is at Avenida das Cataratas 12450, km 17.1.
Taxis, ride transfers and tour pickups are other options. Starting points matter: the airport, the bus terminal and your hotel are not the same place, so tell the driver exactly where the trip starts.

Crossing from Foz do Iguaçu to Argentina
The border crossing between Foz do Iguaçu and Puerto Iguazú uses the Tancredo Neves International Bridge. The photo shows the Argentine border post at the bridge. Waiting times can vary, so build a generous margin into your day if you visit both sides, and do not plan the crossing as a quick hop.
Bring your passport, not just an ID card. As of October 2026, US citizens need a visa for Brazil, which has been required again since 10 April 2025, and the same applies to Australian and Canadian citizens. German citizens need a passport valid for at least six months for Brazil. Details for both countries are on our travel page. The Argentine side needs its own full day.
Plan the rest of your trip
Foz do Iguaçu works best as one half of a two-sided visit.
